How to Set Fall Intentions

It's time to take this new season and month to adjust or create our intentions. The first step is to write it out to hone in on your wants.

Ask yourself the following questions when it comes to intentions and goals.

  • What have you learned from previous months?

  • What intentions do you want to focus on this fall?

  • How can you nurture yourself more this season?

If you need a little more inspiration, here are a couple of ideas:

  1. Personal Intentions: Focus on self-discovery and hobbies. Read or listen to books on a topic you are interested in, try a new hobby, or take the time to understand what you want out of your life.

  2. Professional Intentions: Reflect on your career aspirations. Are there new skills you want to learn, projects you want to tackle, or relationships you wish to strengthen at work?

  3. Self-Care Intentions: Fall is a time to teach yourself to take it easy. Strive to set intentions around relaxation and healthy habits that nurture you, like taking a digital break or building up your workplace boundaries.

The next step is developing a plan to make that intention real. Here are mine to help you further develop your ideas:

Personal/Professional Intentions: I have enrolled in a class to learn more about developing my writing skills.

  • Want: I want to write better.

  • Action: I enrolled in a writing class.

Self-Care Intentions:

  • I intend to develop my cleaning routine further. Half the battle for me is energy after work, so I must evaluate what is happening in that area.

    • Want: I want to have a better cleaning routine.

    • Action: I will track how I manage my time at work and home.

  • I intend to have more fun at home, including special date nights, family dinners, and other activities.

    • Want: I want to create more fun at home instead of just watching TV or sleeping/resting.

    • Action: I will schedule special nights or days throughout the month.

  • I aim to reach for calm instead of allowing the stress around me to engulf me.

    • Want: I want to control my stress level.

    • Action: I will breathe and remind myself that I am not the chaos around me. I will review my coping strategies and list my favorite things to do in everyday life, especially at work.

It's time to grab your planner or notebook and do the intentional work. Remember that this process takes time and a lot of self-love. Take the first step now.
